THE TERRI LYNNE LOKOFF CHILD CARE FOUNDATION PRESENTS AWARD TO CHILD READINESS CENTER, COLUMBIA NORTH YMCA
King of Prussia, PA, November 21, 2006 – Today, the Terri Lynne Lokoff Child Care Foundation presented the Child Readiness Center at the Columbia North YMCA with the Child Care Center Advocate Award in Memory of Anne O. Krancer. The award is presented to a child care center that provides high quality child care and educational services and provides an environment that nurtures children and stimulates growth and creativity.
The Child Readiness Center at the Columbia North YMCA, Broad and Master Streets, was built in 1997. The Center offers full day childcare for children ages 1 – 5. The emphasis is on preparing children for academic success in kindergarten. All classes use the Creative Curriculum to develop age appropriate lessons that help prepare our children socially and emotionally for their transition into kindergarten.
TLLCCF founders Kay and Fred Lokoff, Foundation President Bonnie Squires, Executive Director Allan Miller and Ron and Evie Krancer presented Kim Worley, senior program director of Family Services and all of the teachers and children of the Child Readiness Center with their new Sand and Water Tables.
Terri Lynne Lokoff Child Care Foundation was established in 1987 by Kay and Fred Lokoff to honor the memory of their daughter, Terri, who died tragically in a car accident in July 1986. Terri earned a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education and worked as a child care teacher. She had an extraordinary sense of devotion and love for her work and felt strongly about the need to improve the quality of child care.
