TERRI LYNNE LOKOFF CHILD CARE FOUNDATION NAMES HONOREES
FOR 19th ANNUAL ROSE GALA
King of Prussia, PA, September 12, 2006 - The Terri Lynne Lokoff Child Care Foundation (TLLCCF) will hold its 19th Annual Rose Gala, sponsored by Bernie Robbins Fine Jewelry and Cartier, on Saturday, October 28, 2006, at Hyatt Regency Philadelphia at Penn’s Landing.
The Annual Rose Gala is an opportunity to recognize outstanding companies and individuals for their contributions to child care. This year PNC Bank will be presented with the TLLCCF Corporate Leadership Award. This award is presented to a company that exemplifies the finest among its peers in its commitment to the child care community, as it relates to its employees and the community-at-large. As the region’s premiere financial service company, PNC Bank is focused on the future. The Company’s PNC Grow Up Great program is in the midst of a 10 year, $100 million commitment to help prepare children, particularly from underserved communities, from birth to age five, for success in school and in life. This initiative, along with its Spanish language equivalent is the most comprehensive corporate-based school readiness program in the nation committed to helping to produce stronger, smarter and healthier children, families and communities. In addition, PNC offers its employees accredited back-up child care facilities in both Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, and the company was recognized for the fifth consecutive year as one of the 100 Best Companies for working mothers from Working Mother magazine.
Wendy McEarchern, executive director of Gulf Regional Childcare Management Agency (GRCMA) Early Childhood Directions in Mobile, Alabama will be presented with the TLLCCF Child Care Advocate Award in Memory of Anne O. Krancer. This award is presented to an individual who has reached out to the child care community in an extraordinary way and who exemplifies the utmost consistency, concern, and commitment to quality child care. Ms. McEarchern is honored for her work to help recreate the child care infrastructure in storm ravaged coastal Alabama following last year’s hurricanes. A life long advocate for child care, Ms. McEarchern is the former founder and owner of a multi-site child care program, worked as a consultant and instructor, and has served in leadership positions with numerous professional state and national organizations.
This year the TLLCCF Child Care Center Recipient of the Child Care Advocate Award in Memory of Anne O. Krancer is the Child Readiness Center of the Columbia North YMCA of Philadelphia. This award is presented to a child care center that provides high quality child care and educational services and provides an environment that nurtures children and stimulates growth and creativity.
The event sponsors, Bernie Robbins and Cartier, will showcase a unique collection of jeweled watches at the Rose Gala. In addition, from September 21 through November 7, Bernie Robbins Fine Jewelry locations in New Jersey and Pennsylvania will generously donate a portion of the proceeds from the sale of all Cartier watches to TLLCCF.
The 19th Annual Rose Gala Chairs are Suzanne duPont Postlewait and Craig Postlewait, and the Honorary Chairs are Nicole and Marc Rayfield. Action News anchor Rick Williams will act as Master of Ceremonies for the event and music will be provided by Collage.
The TLLCCF was established in 1987 by Kay & Fred Lokoff in memory of their daughter, Terri Lynne Lokoff – a devoted child care worker who was tragically killed in a car accident. The TLLCCF continues Terri’s effort by supporting non-profit, non-sectarian child care programs dedicated to excellence.
Proceeds from the 19th Annual Rose Gala will help to implement specific changes to improve the quality of child care for the children of Pennsylvania.
