The Terri Lynne Lokoff Child Care Foundation Awards 22 Local Child Care Centers With An Enhancement Grant
King of Prussia, PA, May 11, 2007 – The Terri Lynne Lokoff Child Care Foundation (TLLCCF) presented 22 grants to area child care center at its Annual Meeting held on Tuesday, May 8, 2007 Bloomingdale’s, King of Prussia.
Child Care Center Enhancement Grants are presented each year to nonprofit, nonsectarian child care centers in the Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties. The child care centers are invited to submit applications for grants, which afford the child care centers to implement specific changes to improve the quality of care provided to children. A committee of TLLCCF board members and early childhood educators and specialists review each application.
This year’s grants will directly benefit 2,425 children and total $75,555. The Child Care Center Enhancement Grant recipients are: Academy for Early Learning for Literacy Lending Library; Butterfly Program at ECS St. Barnabas Mission for Program Improvements; Children’s Village Child Care Center for Sound Proofing Classrooms; Community College of Philadelphia-Department of Early Care and Education for Student Scholarships; Dixon Learning Academy for Better Communications; Franklin Day Nursery for Keeping Old Man Winter Out; Green Bryne Child Care Center for Literacy Lending Library; Kaleidoscope Preschool Arts Enrichment Program for Teacher Training Institute for the Arts; Ken-Crest-Kensington Center for Child and Parent Self-Discovery Cultural Arts; Montgomery Early Learning Center Narberth for Music Appreciation; Montgomery Early Learning Center Norristown for Sinks-Young Toddler Classroom; Nicetown Boys and Girls Club Daycare for NAEYC Accreditation; Pottstown YMCA Child Development Center for Math and Science Centers; Pre School Plus for Automate Office Administration/New Refrigerator; R. W. Brown Community Center for Updates, Renovations and Repairs; SPIN Frankford for Creating mathematicians and Scientists for the Future; SPIN Ups and Downs for Technology to Enhance Teacher/Family Communications; SPIN, Inc. for Creating Mathematicians and Scientists for the Future; Summit Children’s Program for Safety Enrichment Project/Front & Back Outside Play Areas; TEACH Early Childhood Pennsylvania for Scholarship Program; United Cerebral Palsy of Philadelphia and Vicinity-Children’s Services for Crescendo Music Program; and Western Learning Center for Better Communications.
Observing its 20th year of making America better by improving early care and education, the Terri Lynne Lokoff Child Care Foundation has dedicated its resources to improving the quality of child care for all children; supporting and elevating the status of child care teachers and providers; raising awareness of the need for affordable, quality child care; and, partnering with business and government in making child care a priority. TLLCCF is a nonprofit, nonsectarian 501(c)(3) organization established in 1987 in memory of Terri Lynne Lokoff, a devoted child care worker.
