The Terri Lynne Lokoff Child Care Foundation
Names Honorees for 21st Annual Rose Gala
Event honors child care advocates and supports high-quality,
affordable early care and education for children
The TLLCCF 21st Annual Rose Gala, sponsored by Bernie Robbins Fine Jewelry and Hearts on Fire, will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2008 at Loews Philadelphia Hotel in Center City.
The Annual Rose Gala is an opportunity to recognize outstanding companies and individuals for their contributions to child care. This year the Committee for Economic Development (CED) will be presented with the TLLCCF Corporate Leadership Award. This award is presented to a company that exemplifies the finest among its peers in its commitment to the child care community, as it relates to its employees and the community-at-large. Throughout its 65-year history, the Committee for Economic Development has addressed national priorities that promote sustained economic growth and development to benefit all Americans. These activities have quite literally helped shape the future on issues ranging from the Marshall Plan in the late 1940s, to education reform in the past two decades, and campaign finance reform since 2000. CED's Trustees not only determine what those priorities should be; but also take the time to participate in the subcommittees which produce the policy statements containing CED's findings and recommendations.
TLLCCF has honored corporations with the prestigious Corporate Leadership Award since 1990. The Foundation will bestow its 18th Corporate Leadership Award at the gala. All previous Corporate Leadership Award honorees are invited to the gala to be recognized as champions in promoting high-quality child care in the workplace and in their communities.
Dana Friedman, Executive Director of The Early Years Institute, will be presented with the TLLCCF Child Care Advocate Award in Memory of Anne O. Krancer. This award is presented to an individual who has reached out to the child care community in an extraordinary way and who exemplifies the utmost consistency, concern, and commitment to quality child care. Dr. Friedman is being honored for her years of dedicated service to the child care community.
This year the TLLCCF Child Care Center Recipient of the Child Care Advocate Award in Memory of Anne O. Krancer is the Calvary Baptist Child Care Center in Norristown. This award is presented to a child care center that provides high-quality child care and educational services in an environment that nurtures children and stimulates growth and creativity.
The 21st Annual Rose Gala chairs are Gina and John Giordano of Yardley, honorary chairs are Sandy and Ed Levin of Blue Bell, and ad book chairs are Marcy Bacine of West Mt. Airy and Tobi Miller of Wynnewood. WPVI-TV 6/abc Action News anchor Sarah Bloomquist will be the Master of Ceremonies for the event; and music will be provided by the Vincent James Band.
Observing its 21st year of making America better by improving early care and education, the Terri Lynne Lokoff Child Care Foundation has dedicated its resources to improving the quality of child care for all children; supporting and elevating the status of child care teachers and providers; raising awareness of the need for affordable, quality child care; and, partnering with business and government in making child care a priority. TLLCCF is a nonprofit, nonsectarian 501(c)(3) organization established in 1987 in memory of Terri Lynne Lokoff, a devoted child care worker.
Proceeds from the 21st Annual Rose Gala will help to implement specific changes to improve the quality of child care for the children of Pennsylvania.
