2010 Judge TA
Child Care Experts to Judge
Terri Lynne Lokoff/ Children’s TYLENOL®
National Child Care Teacher Awards™
The award recognizes early care & education professionals for quality work and dedication
King of Prussia, PA, December 9, 2009- The Terri Lynne Lokoff Child Care Foundation (TLLCCF) has selected 40 child care professionals to serve as judges for the Terri Lynne Lokoff/Children’s TYLENOL® National Child Care Teacher Awards. Award recipients will be honored on Thursday, April 15, 2010, at the Please Touch Museum, Philadelphia, PA.
The judges read and score all of the National Child Care Teacher Awards applications. As part of the application process, applicants are asked to design an enhancement project for the children in their classroom, illustrating the educational, social and emotional benefits of the project. The judges will review the applications and score each application based on a proprietary method developed by the TLLCCF. Once the top 50 recipients are determined, an additional question is posed to the top ten scorers and their answers are rated. Of the top ten recipients the one with the highest score receives the additional honor of receiving the Helene Marks Award as the National Child Care Teacher of the Year.
Stated Allan S. Miller, executive director of the TLLCCF, “The award was designed to recognize excellence in quality child care and raise awareness of the important role child care providers play in our society. Early care and education providers are under-valued. Our National Child Care Teacher Awards™ program is an annual event in which 50 teachers from across the country are celebrated for their commitment and dedication to the children they serve. Like TLLCCF, child care teachers are working to improve the quality of child care for all children.
Early care and education providers from throughout the 50 United States and the District of Columbia may apply for the award. The award recipients each receive $1,000 -- $500 dedicated to implement their proposed project and a $500 as a personal stipend to acknowledge the dedication of the provider. Since 1994, TLLCCF has presented approximately $535,000 in awards, honoring early care and education teachers for their dedication and excellence in providing quality child care. The competition originally honored recipients in the Philadelphia area. It quickly grew to a regional program and in the last eight years, with the participation and support of Children’s Tylenol®, the program has grown to include child care teachers from across the national, and in 2009 includes child care teachers working on air. Since going national in 2003, 40 states have been represented by Award recipients.
The Terri Lynne Lokoff Child Care Foundation was established in 1987 by Kay and Fred Lokoff in memory of their daughter, Terri Lynne, a devoted child care provider who was tragically killed in a car accident. The TLLCCF is a non-profit foundation that funds non-sectarian, non-profit child care programs dedicated to excellence, and is committed to ensuring the availability of quality child care for all children.
